The soul’s yearning to grow.

When someone goes through a “dark night of the soul”…it really is like being inside a butterfly cocoon. We do not know “when” or even “if” we are going to come out.

Sometimes we may need to turn away from those who do not support who we are becoming, including certain family members or friends.

It is a time of deep searching, shadow and inner child work, dreaming, questioning the self-limiting beliefs we cling to, and contemplating our existence and reality.

Like a snake that sheds its former skin, we appear to be shaking off or peeling back the many layers of persona – all that is no longer who we are.

As we bravely continue on this pathway, many inner gifts are revealed and we slowly begin to hear again the authentic and unique song of our heart and soul.

1st photo: Me, 23 years old in my earliest metamorphosis stage 🙂 – choosing to live in a boatshed in New Zealand. 2nd photo: 20 years later in Italy, wildforaging with Wild Garlic/ Aglio Orsino.

After having been successful in a publishing company as a graphic designer, a trip backpacking around Thailand with my friend showed me that clearly I was not on my soul path.

For years, I was searching to reclaim the same joy, delight, simplicity and freedom I had experienced together with my friend in Thailand, spending time with humble, beautiful Buddhist and Muslim families. In Thailand, 20 years old, I had discovered true happiness and I experienced a heart awakening that was deeply unforgetable and life changing.

Eventually, I abandoned all the ideas, hopes and dreams I had collected from outside sources and instilled in my mind about how my life “should look”. What followed was a time of floating about and searching – not feeling grounded in my body or in life at all.

Thankfully, my earlier experiences in Thailand with humble and authentic cultures remained deep in my mind and heart. In 2003 I sold and gave away most of my belongings to move into a tiny boatshed. It was a catalyst life choice that ignited my soul to awaken in profoundly meaningful and healing ways.

At this period, I had been working with children as a nanny and in afterschool care. I began face painting children for birthday parties, festivals and events, all around my city. I also worked as a private house cleaner. I learnt that I CAN live simply and have more time and freedom for myself to be and create.

I was already in a 2nd year course in transpersonal psychology & shamanism. I loved to read about indigenous cultures, shamanism, paganism, celtic spirituality, Carl Jung etc. It was a time to dream, ponder, reflect, write, be in my feminine energy and connect with the changing tides, the sea-birds who made their habitat around me and the cyclical power of the moon.

For the first time, I understood that to live in simplicity and deep relationship with Mother Nature supported my wellbeing on all levels. It did not matter how many people thought I was strange for choosing this path. It was important that I was living in coherence with my heart and true happiness flowed from within my soul.

My family stood aside as I went through a period of deep soul searching in my early adult life. Being a black sheep, I know that many of my decisions were obscure and difficult for them to understand. My parents have not stopped me doing what I felt I needed to do in my life. Even if they did not understand my choices at all, they wanted me to be happy. For this, I am eternally grateful. 🙏

Without the love, support and sharing together with my Grandmother I may not have made it through. Being an artist and passionate gardener, she was a solid, grounded woman of immense wisdom and knowledge in my life. My Grandma’s door was always open to me. I never left her beautiful home and garden without a bunch of herbs and flowers and feeling much lighter in my spirit. Over the years, we shared together not only as Granddaughter and Grandmother but as soul friends who understood eachother deeply.

“I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life, happen to you, and that you will work with these stories from your life–not someone else’s life–water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom. That is the work. The only work.”

Clarissa Pinkola Estes – Women Who Run With the Wolves

After 2 decades, I am still living a simple lifestyle in a camper with my partner Juerg and our Sicilian adopted dog. I feel and experience deeply the seasons and transformations that occur all around me in nature – most especially in the Alps. I journey deeply with nature spirits, animal and plant medicine and I am forever a student of Mother Nature.

My passion is to wildcraft with medicinal herbs, nutritional wild plants and berries and create flower essences from the pristine areas I visit on foot in the mountains. From the wild plants, flowers and herbs we gather, we make tinctures, teas, skin salves and a wide range of natural skin care. As my partner is Swiss and has been mushroom foraging since he was a small boy with his grandparents, we are very passionate about mushrooms for medicine, healing and cooking.

When I look back on my life in my early 20s, I know that my boatshed experience was about planting a seed. It was the beginning of a new, unique life pathway – as much as possible – finding courage to follow and trust the invisible thread of my heart and soul. 💗

Jose Mujica – Former President of Uruguay

“I spent almost 10 years in solitary, in a hole. Plenty of time to think. I spent 7 years without one book! That left me time to think. And this is what I discovered. Either you are happy with very little, free of all that extra luggage, because you have happiness inside…or you don’t get anywhere…”

“This is a matter of freedom. If you don’t have many possessions you don’t need to work all your life like a slave to sustain them, and therefore you have more time for yourself…I may appear to be an eccentric old man… But this is a free choice.”

– Jose Mujica – Former President of Uruguay

Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation. – Lao Tzu

In my last post, I expressed that part of being on earth at this time and to truly live from the SOUL means to continually be open to embrace the cycles of change and transformation in our lives.

Growth, healing, freedom and consciously evolving is simply not possible without change. However, change and the unknown are very challenging for most of us!

In our current culture, we are not encouraged to honour the soul’s yearning or to see that times of darkness and crisis in our life can reveal many inner gifts of wisdom, rebirth and renewal!

Our human family, cultural and societal conditioning can restrict us with committments and responsibilities. However, if we really desire to heal, grow and nurture the seed inside of us that is our soul, I believe it is never too late to begin.

Our soul journey is unique to each one of us.

The right people will support and encourage us.

Sometimes it is about being patient to wait and trust the universe aligns at the right moment to meet our needs and support our personal healing and soul growth.

Other times, it can be simply about having the courage to leap,…to learn from the experience and grow.

Even when we are afraid of the unknown, it is important we listen and follow our heart and soul.

Soul Stirrings…💫 A pre-Imbolc message

Creative, embodied souls who are here to be trailblazers,…💫

…KNOW that part of being on earth at this time, means to continually make ourselves open to move through the phoenix flames and embrace change, rebirth and transformation…

Growth, healing, freedom and consciously evolving into a new paradigm – without change – is simply not possible…

However, change and the unknown are very difficult for most of us (honest and humble enough to admit it)!…

💫

Here, in the Northern Hemisphere as spring gently comes closer to our part of the world, what are you beginning to feel ready to release into the phoenix flames so you can move forward into the new and who you are becoming? 🔥…

When I’m in nature,…I spend alot of my time simply BEING STILL AND RECEPTIVE…

Often our soul is requiring the body and heart to integrate all of the rapid energetic changes we are experiencing on the planet. To BE in our feminine energy simply means to stop trying, turn inward, rest, feel and allow. However, we are neither encouraged nor shown how valuable it can be to tune inwards to nature’s frequency (let alone our inner selves) using our inherent, receptive capibilities and sensory gifts ❤…

In our western world, it can be most difficult for us to do this…

However, overtime and with patience, I learnt it provides the nourishing, FERTILE SOIL for inner healing, creative inspiration and transformation to occur…
💫

(PS: If this resonates, you are open for change and you would like some support and soul guidance – please contact me to book a reading 🙏).

First butterfly of 2024, spotted yesterday. The Peacock Butterfly – Aglais io – Mother Nature is waking up early here!

Solstice blessings 🕯 22 December 2023 🕯

Maturing and merging with my SOUL…

Over many years, (here, since 2016), I have been devoted to write and share about conscious growth, the soul journey, sensitivity and healing the inner child, shadow work, ancestral connection, re-wilding and personal transformation…

Today, my real life teachings and skills (living simply with my soulmates and BEING in close relationship with nature over a long period), are ALL inner riches of my journey – supporting me in today’s world to be and share my authentic self…

More than ever before, I am standing in and expressing more of my truth, being open, feeling supported and trusting my intuition to guide me,…

Even in the quiet, stillness of winter, I notice that doors can open NATURALLY in the outer world (without force and exhaustion) just like they do for me when I’m in nature. I embrace these moments of alignment where I can see my soul path being illuminated…

🕯

It flows from WITHIN!
And the daily connections I embrace and feel with ALL life forms.
(Not just human)…

We are all different and our journeys are unique!…

On my journey it never felt right for me to practise strengthening my intuition and connection to the spirit realm through meditation, sitting inside walls…

I have learnt the most by being outdoors; 🌱🌲
Through listening, observing, and deepening my heart connection with the wild plants, herbs, alpine flowers, mushrooms, the ancestors & the ancients…

Merging with my SOUL…

For my partner and I,
it’s about as much as possible,
LIVING IT,
SHARING STORIES OF CONNECTION,
BELONGING WITH MOTHER EARTH
AND TRUE BEING…

FIND YOUR UNIQUE LIGHT AND GIFT TO THIS WORLD.
LOVE YOUR JOURNEY OF BECOMING.
HAVE THE PATIENCE AND HUMILITY,
TO LET IT UNFOLD NATURALLY.
AND BE COURAGEOUS ENOUGH
TO SHARE IT WITH OTHERS.

💗🔥🕯💗🔥🕯💗

Making a flower essence from Alpine Rock Rose (Helianthemum nummularium)

It’s a great privilege to be able to bond and make medicine from wildflowers in the pure mountain areas of the Alps.

Wildflower essences of the Alps are of extraordinary purity and a high vibration. The natural flowing mountain creeks, streams and waterfalls are pristine and a personal highlight for me to spend time near!

One of the many reasons I love the practise of making my own wildflower essences is because through the process, I slow down completely, feel deeply into Mother Nature’s messengers and the elements of sun-earth-water.

There are no shortages of these sacred messengers in the Alps. In fact, as soon as I sit down, I become observant to the abundant life forms all around me in perfect harmony and diversity. It’s really something so wondrous and beautiful to witness. Butterflys, cicadas, beetles, bees are all so curious and adventurous. Almost as if they immediately want to gently connect with you and offer their complete trust.

It’s easy to get really excited and feel special, as there are so many landing your skin, clothing, packs, hiking sticks…etc…etc… But the butterflys are attracted to the salt in our sweat! 😂 Our sweat gives the butterflies a boost of minerals and proteins to support their diet.

For a moment, I’m a visitor in their home. I treat this as sacred. I always ask the plants, ancestors and ancients permission first, and I wait for a subtle sign before rushing in from my ego. I try to never do anything in a hurry. Often, I leave gifts of dried herb bundles behind in special areas as a way offering thanks to the creator, the plant spirits and ancient guardians of the mountains who I sense are still very much part of the landscape.

I also want to tread as lightly as possible, i.e not trample all over plants unnecessarily, take only what I need (flower essences only require a very small amount of flowers 🙏) always try to learn about which flowers are protected and especially respect the territory of one of my favourite mountain friends – the Marmots! 😁

Last summer, I discovered about how to make my own flower essences. I made several from my strongest mountain allies like Wild Rose, Fireweed, Hypericum and Yarrow.

I knew then, as I do now, it’s been one of the most important discoveries on my journey because it has aligned me with a strong but playful calling I once felt as a child. Back then, I did not have the vocabulary or parents who could guide me in the direction I later discovered for myself. However, I remember distinctly wanting to create and feel myself a part of the alchemy – magic – of Mother Nature.

Perhaps I was inspired by the wizards and fairies I saw in cartoons on television in the 1980s 😊. I remember finding joy in making intuitive “experiments”. These experiments were about mixing all kinds of plant matter together with any of the obscure liquids I could find in my mother’s wash room cabinet! 😅🙏

Today, whenever I am creating anything from Mother Nature I not only know my inner child is super-content. It also helps me lift my vibration and reconnect with my body and heart when I’m too much in the head. Creating together with Mother Nature really is a pathway home to my true self and my many past life times and ancestry connected with herbalism and the sacred feminine.

Rock Rose Flower Essence

For times of the unexpected. Finding courage, steadiness and self-preservation with ease. Supports us to face life’s sudden changes, which can put us into fight-or-flight survival mode, panic and fear.

I first connected with the Rock Rose flower during the “c crisis” of spring 2020! (Timing…I know right!? 😯)

I was overjoyed to find her growing in a meadow I visited everyday, while we were “locked down” on a camper park in a small village in Italy. I had become curious of this beautiful, delicate sun-flower that seemed to burst with energy – wanting me to connect and know more about her medicine.

Later, after identifying her, I was so happy when I realized Rock Rose was part of our Rescue Remedy Bach Flower blend and also one of the 38 Bachflower remedies! A herbal medicine I had already been using and gravitating towards in any emergency or unexpected encounters – even with animals – for so many years!

3 years later, I was guided back to an area of exquisite beauty high in the mountains (2000m). Here, I had already seen and photographed her growing last summer. However, this time I did not expect to find her in such abundance – covering two whole sides of a less exposed mountain slope!

When we ask and are ready to embrace a new herbal medicine in our life, Mother Nature will always guide us. When I can follow my intuition, I have been shown this countless times. It is always self-assuring and synchronistic – giving me a wonderful sense that I am
in tune with a life-force far greater than I know
and on the right path!

Right away, I knew I needed to come back to this beautiful place where Rock Rose was thriving and make a flower essence. The next day, a perfect sunny morning created the right conditions for me to make my first flower essence of Alpine Rock Rose.

While her petals are delicate, this wonderful, bright, little sun-flower is strong, hardy and brave – a true alpine survivor in the toughest of environmental conditions! Sitting and being receptive to how her flower medicine helps us, I received “steadiness” and “self-preservation with ease”. The ability to let go of control, surrender, be brave and trust that we have the inner strength, balance and perseverance to grow through life’s challenges – especially those which bring sudden shock and panic to our nervous system.

Have you been using Bachflower Rescue Remedy and therefore already connected with Rock Rose?

Does she grow wild near you?

I would love to read about your own experiences using this beautiful flower essence!…

The inward journey that Winter offers & the medicine of Wild Rose…

The featured photo of this post is my homemade Wild Rose Petal Elixhir made with brandy and honey…🍸🍯🌸

Winter Solstice is not that far away…

The more I learned how to nurture and bring warmth into my own body, heart and soul, the more I began to love and truly savour the colder, darker months of the year…

Because I love the inward journey that winter offers, overtime, I found ceremony and ritual in simple things that give me great pleasure…

I learned that as I could sit in stillness tending to my shadow, my inner child and my darker, more challenging emotions, this inner journey was mirrored in the medicine I gravitated towards in nature, to nourish and support me with love…

Throughout history, and in cultures all over the world, people have been drawn to the essence and medicine of roses to nurture the body, heart and soul…In Ayurvedic medicine, rose is considered unique because of its cooling properties aswell as its ability to enhance the digestive fire – “agni”. It’s therefore perfect for balancing all three doshas…

This Wild Rose Petal Elixhir made from the petals I gathered in the mountains, is literally the closest thing I have ever made to a love potion!…😍

Drinking it, I experience a wonderful warming, softening energy in my heart and it helps me calm a restless, scattered mind. I’m using it on grey days, when I feel we could both use the relaxing, uplifting and soothing properties of Rose, while I’m also reminded of all the wonderful memories of summer in the mountains with the abundant Wild Roses…

Use as a tincture, or a small amount in sparkling or warm water, in cocktails or in teas…

In many health stores you can find Rose tincture – or, it’s easy to make with your own rose petals. You could also simply add rose petals to honey for another way to infuse and use the wonderful medicinal value of rose. Afterwards, put outside in the sunshine everyday for upto 3 or 4 weeks…If you can’t access raw honey, try a honey that’s light in colour and flavour, therefore you’ll experience the rose perfume & taste sensation!)

As my Elixhir is disappearing too quickly ☺, I plan to make more! But this time, I’ll use some of the dried wild rose petals I stored away for winter like a squirrel!…

At this time of year, while everything in popular culture is designed to drain our spirit and life-force, (turning us into senseless, mega-consumers) Nature will always offer us MORE in the way of nourishment, love, fulfillment and life-energy…

Medicine truly is everywhere…

And let’s not forget,…
Not for everyone, but for the right people, there’s ALOT of medicine
in our unique journey of transformation,
and BECOMING…❤ 🐛🦋

Many people need love this time of year. If you feel this post might offer support to a heavy heart or anyone else who might benefit from my words – please share the love! Thanks.

“What matters most are the simple pleasures so abundant that we can all enjoy them…Happiness doesn’t lie in the objects we gather around us. To find it, all we need to do is open our eyes.” – The Little Prince

Some thoughts about sensitive children and being introverted…

In our modern world, the extroverted personality is often glorified,…
while those who are naturally more introverted are not being given the understanding and compassion they deserve…

Many introverts are very sensitive to life around them and can experience the world through the lense of a deeply connected and fulfilling INNER world…💫

They have no need or desire for endless relationships or the vibrant energy of people around them…Energy, fulfillment and balance come through silence, simplicity, being alone in nature or with one’s own clear and individual thoughts…

Early in life, children who show signs of naturally being this way need to hear that their gifts are unique, beautiful and equally beneficial to a world, which is often far too noisy and busy – with humans who struggle to find fulfillment or safety in the simplicity of their own stillness and inner silence…

Sensitive children are a gift to this world…

They can help us to connect with our own vulnerability, sensitivity, longing for love and compassion and to be true to our own heart and soul path…

In a world ready to be reborn, I hope we can all become more conscious of our own generational wounds so we don’t unconsciously project them onto the next generations…Above all, early on, we celebrate the individual essence and unique soul gifts, which are rare but beautifully present in every child…

A simple message from Hypericum, St John’s Wort 🌞

Hypericum perforatum: flower essence of light-filled protection and connection with our inner sun…

When we are always fearful of not “doing it right” or being “good enough”, it’s difficult to find the courage to explore new avenues in life…or try out new, more authentic ways of showing up in the world…

The internal critic and perfectionist are masters in stifling our growth and telling us in a million different ways,…we are worthless and small…

It’s not possible to abolish these internal voices who give us pain and destroy our self-worth. However, every soul is free to choose a path of healing and growing towards love and conscious awareness…

In shining a beacon of light on the wounded parts of Self, their power and control can begin to dissipate…

While we may be aware of their chaotic, relentless presence in the background, they are no longer taking center-stage…

Together, with the protective shield of Hypericum and our devotion to our inner work, we are growing more to a place of self-mastery and freedom,…a state of true being and profound witnessing…

Hypericum also supports us to remember the Spirit Beings of nature who take on many different and unique light forms…

These nature spirits of light and joy would like us to play, dance, create, be free and joyful,…Have fun and connect with them!… 🧚‍♀️

🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞

Since ancient times, Hypericum has been known as the herb of sunlight, embodying both its light and warming energies…During Antiquity, Greek and Romans used Hypericum for spiritual protection, but also to burn for purification of the home. Hypericum provided healing for wounds and bites, digestive disorders, and support for depression, despair and suicidal tendencies.

Hypericum works well for those who suffer from depression, anxiety and insomnia. But also those who are sensitive…A flower essence of Hypericum not only offers spiritual/psychic protection but supports us to anchor light into our body and soul and radiate this light and warmth from within our own true source.

🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞

Recently, I had a chance to make a flower essence of Hypericum perforatum (St John’s Wort)…

While I still consider myself to be a novice, the flower-essence process gives me a much greater opportunity to dive into the mystical realm of flower power and unravel the deeper, intuitive messages they wish to communicate…Making flower essences takes me into a very sacred, ceremonial space with nature and I really love it!…

Can you see the Marmot spirit in the photo of me making the Hypericum flower essence?…🤗

Over the past months, the Marmot has been making his presence known to me in unique ways. However, I’m taking the sign of him being present with me (in the photo with Hypericum), that he is now travelling beside me as my new animal spirit guide and teacher…🥰

I’m very happy about this, because, among the many character qualities and spiritual gifts the Marmot represents, it shows I am ready to embrace new avenues in my life.

🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞🌟 🌞

Getting in sync with Mother Nature’s rhythms and cycles…

In ancient times, the Celtic festival of Samhain was celebrated as a mandatory holiday that lasted three full days and nights…

Samhain today in the Northern Hemisphere began last evening (October 31) and will end tonight (November 1)…

As Samhain occurs at roughly the midpoint between the Fall Equinox and the Winter Solstice, it was to mark an ending to the harvest time and the beginning of a new cycle…celebrating, honouring and connecting deeper with nature’s transition from lightness (summer) to darkness (winter)…

Today and right now, is a good moment to reflect on what we have learned during these past months,…What lessons, gifts and wisdom do we wish to take forward into winter…? What are we most grateful for?…🙏

We might also recognise beliefs that we have outgrown or any other limitations that we can now freely let go,…

Seeing ourselves not separate but “in sync” with Mother Natures rhythms and cycles, means we harness the energy and opportunities to move forward lighter, more free, and trusting our journey…

Our energy can therefore expand to encompass new experiences and ways of being and sharing more of our true self and gifts in the world…

Our ancestors and guides are always nearby and offering their support when needed! 💓
